Dunglass Estate Wedding Videographer
Dunglass Estate is one of those Scottish wedding venues that has so much character built into it. Beautiful estate grounds, a 15th-century Gothic church, lovely spaces for the whole day to unfold, and that feeling of being tucked away somewhere really special with all your favourite people.
As a wedding videographer, what I love most about Dunglass Estate is how naturally the day flows. Nothing feels rushed or disconnected. You can get ready on the estate, walk into a ceremony full of atmosphere, spend time with your guests in the grounds, then head into the Pavilion for dinner, speeches and dancing.
That kind of flow is brilliant for a wedding film, because it lets me focus on what I care about most — the real stuff. The laughter, the nerves, the hugs, the slightly chaotic morning moments, the big emotional ceremony reactions, the speech moments no one saw coming, and the dance floor once everyone has fully relaxed into the day.
My approach is relaxed, fun and discreet. I care a lot about the craft of making wedding films, but I never want the filming to take over your day. The aim is always to create something full of joy that feels like you as a couple.
Emily & Ben’s Dunglass Estate Wedding Film
Emily and Ben’s wedding at Dunglass Estate was such a lovely day to film.
What I loved about their wedding was how much the venue gave the day space to breathe. The morning had that calm, excited feeling as everyone got ready nearby. The ceremony had real atmosphere, with the church adding so much character without taking the focus away from what was actually happening between them. Then afterwards, the estate grounds gave everyone room to relax, chat, laugh, drink, hug and enjoy being together.
That is always what I am looking for when I film a wedding. Not just beautiful shots of a venue, but the feeling of the day. The way people look at each other. The voices in the speeches. The little moments between the bigger moments. The things that might not seem huge at the time, but mean everything when you watch them back.
You can explore more about the venue on the Dunglass Estate website.
Having filmed weddings at Dunglass Estate, it’s easy to understand why couples are drawn here. Like nearby venues such as Broxmouth Courtyard and Newhall Estate, it offers a beautiful setting for couples planning a wedding in East Lothian and the surrounding countryside.
What I Love About Filming Weddings at Dunglass Estate
One of the things I love about Dunglass Estate is that it gives a wedding day so much variety without ever feeling complicated.
From a filmmaking point of view, that is such a gift. The morning preparations, the church, the grounds, the Pavilion and the evening celebrations all have their own feel, but they still belong together as one story. That helps the film feel rich and full without needing to force anything.
I also love that the venue has plenty of space for natural moments to happen. Guests can spread out, conversations can unfold, people can take a moment together, and the day can move at its own pace. For my style of wedding filmmaking, that is exactly what I want. I am not trying to stage your day or turn it into a photoshoot. I am looking for the real moments that already exist.
Dunglass Estate also works beautifully for couples who want their wedding film to feel joyful, personal and full of life. It has the big atmospheric moments, but it also has room for all the fun in-between bits — the jokes, the reactions, the drinks reception chaos, the speeches, the dancing and the people who make the day yours.
A Relaxed Approach to Dunglass Estate Wedding Films
My style of filming is very relaxed and documentary-led. I want you to enjoy your wedding day, not spend it feeling like you are on a film set.
At Dunglass Estate, that approach works really well because the venue already gives the day a natural structure. I can move quietly between the morning, the ceremony, the drinks reception, dinner, speeches and dancing, capturing what is happening without constantly stepping in.
Of course, I still care deeply about making the film look and sound beautiful. The craft matters. The light, the movement, the audio, the music, the pacing, the emotion — all of that is what turns the footage into a film you will actually want to watch again and again.
But the heart of it is always you. Your people. Your personalities. Your humour. Your energy. Your story.
That is what I want your Dunglass Estate wedding film to feel like.
What I Love About the Ceremony Space at Dunglass Estate
The church at Dunglass Estate is one of the things that makes the venue feel so memorable.
What I love about it is the atmosphere it brings to the ceremony. It has history, texture and character, but once everyone is inside and the ceremony begins, it still feels incredibly personal. The setting is beautiful, but the focus stays where it should be — on the two of you and the people around you.
Ceremonies are always one of the most important parts of my films. The vows, readings, music, reactions and little glances all become such a huge part of the final story. At Dunglass, the ceremony space gives those moments a real sense of weight without making them feel overly formal or distant.
I always film ceremonies as discreetly as possible. I want to capture the emotion properly, but I never want to be a distraction from what is actually happening.
What I Love About the Grounds at Dunglass Estate
The grounds at Dunglass Estate are brilliant for the part of the day where everyone finally relaxes.
After the ceremony, there is usually that lovely shift in energy. The nerves are gone, the drinks are out, people are hugging, laughing, chatting, taking photos, finding family members and properly settling into the celebration.
That is one of my favourite parts of a wedding day to film, because it is full of real movement and personality. Nothing needs to be forced. I can simply look for the good stuff — your guests being themselves, the people you love all in one place, and those little pockets of joy that happen naturally throughout the afternoon.
It is also a great setting for a short couple session, without it needing to feel like a big interruption. I never want to pull you away for ages. Just a little bit of time together, somewhere quiet, so you can breathe, laugh, and have a moment before heading back to the party.
What I Love About the Speeches and Evening Celebrations
Speeches are a huge part of my wedding films, and Dunglass Estate gives them a lovely setting.
What I love about speeches is how much they bring your film to life. They add humour, emotion, context and personality. They remind you not just what the day looked like, but what people said, how they felt, and what it meant to everyone there.
That is why I include full ceremony and full speeches films, as well as the shorter creative films. The highlights are brilliant for reliving the feeling of the day, but having the full speeches means you get to keep all those words properly.
Then, once the evening starts, the film gets to shift again. The formal part of the day gives way to the dance floor, the music, the slightly wilder moments, and everyone fully letting go. I love ending films with that energy because it feels like the natural release of the whole day.
Filming a Dunglass Estate Wedding Video
Dunglass Estate is a wonderful venue for documentary-style wedding videography.
The combination of historic architecture, open landscapes, and the natural flow of the venue allows moments to unfold organically throughout the day. From the quiet anticipation of the morning preparations to the dramatic setting of the ceremony and the atmosphere of the evening celebrations, the estate offers a beautiful backdrop for capturing the story of a wedding day.
My approach to filming weddings at Dunglass Estate is always quiet and unobtrusive, allowing the day to unfold naturally without interruption.
